TEMPLE AFFILIATION

For Non-URJ Campers
Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute is a project of the Union for Reform Judaism. Campers who are not members of URJ congregations must follow the guidelines outlined below in regards to registration and fees.

GUIDELINES
» Both returning and new campers from URJ congregations in good standing can register as soon as forms are available.
» Returning campers from congregations affiliated with another national body (Conservative, Orthodox, or Reconstructionist movements) can register as soon as forms become available.
» Returning campers who do not belong to any congregation or who belong to congregations not affiliated with a national body may register one month after registration opens.
» New campers who do not belong to URJ congregations may register beginning January 1.

FEES
Regardless of when they register, all non-URJ campers will be assessed a surcharge. This surcharge will not exceed the greatest of $75 per week, with a maximum of $500 per family per season.

FEE ASSISTANCE

We would never want a child to be denied the opportunity to experience a summer at OSRUI because of financial need. In addition to our congregations that offer scholarships, OSRUI also offers camp scholarships - Camperships - which are available to URJ families and are based on financial need. Campers must be registered in a session before they can apply for a Campership. To receive a Campership application, please attach a note to your Registration Form requesting campership forms. Campership forms are mailed in early December and are due back in our office no later than February 1st. All requests are kept strictly confidential.

For more information, please contact Susan Alexander at 847-239-6980 or salexander@urj.org.

Many cities also have Jewish Federations which provide additional funds. And the Campership Program of Chicago provides scholarships to 1st and 2nd year campers from the Chicago metropolitan area spending three weeks or more at a Jewish overnight summer camp (go to www.campership.net for information).
